The Greenhouse

In my spare time from work my other passion is Gardening and from a early age of watching and helping my Grandad in the garden and eating his own grown produce I have longed to do the same.
 After recently purchasing a second hand greenhouse from Facebook group, I have had hours of pleasure and fun.

The greenhouse was 6x6" and needed attention with a broken door and several panes of glass missing when I collected it! I found a local factory who manufacturers glass cut to size at £3 a pane which I though was a bargain. (this photo was taken from the advert)

There has never been a better time to start the grow your own buzz, More people are getting involved, saving money and experiencing the joy of tasting fresh fruit and vegetables they have grown themselves.

The Greenhouse base was measured to fit on a base of railway sleepers and screwed down.
with the frame built and new glass and doors in place, I started the exciting ideas of what to plant!

The tomatoes are ripening up lovely in the heat of the full sun and a row of little gem lettuces are nearly ready for harvesting. Also in the greenhouse I have Melon, Peppers, sweet Chilli, Cucumber and a Fig.
The Drippa irrigation watering system which is great on hot days or holidays, this is a large 20L reservoir bag with a hose attached is gravity fed with a drip slow release nozzles.

Why grow my own?
Because is it healthy, fresh produce straight from the garden with no pesticides, contains the maximum vitamins and minerals to promote healthy living!
It also saves money and helps with the household budget!

Changing the subject on vegetables

These are my favourite two roses in my garden, These are both David Austin Rose bushes which has a local garden centre.

They have the most beautiful perfume scent I can't begin to explain....
Later in the year I hope to be taking a few cuttings to make a new rose flower bed myself :)

 One Perfect Rose
A single flow’r he sent me, since we met.
All tenderly his messenger he chose;
Deep-hearted, pure, with scented dew still wet—
One perfect rose.

I knew the language of the floweret;
“My fragile leaves,” it said, “his heart enclose.”
Love long has taken for his amulet
One perfect rose.

Why is it no one ever sent me yet
One perfect limousine, do you suppose?
Ah no, it’s always just my luck to get
One perfect rose.
